Masters of the Building Arts Festival Week
March 16th-23rd
Members of the building community, as well as visitors from around the country, will come together to celebrate the extraordinary skills and artistry of master craftspeople.
Saturday, March 16: The inaugural Craftsmen & Craft Brew Fest, 4p-7p at ACBA’s James Island workshops, 1725 Signal Point Road, Charleston, 29412. Craftsmen will have a chance to network while sampling some of the regions finest craft beers.
Monday, March 18th: ACBA timber framing students and faculty will join National Park Service staff at Fort Moultrie for the dedication of two recently restored gun carriages, replicas of the Revolutionary War munitions.
Friday, March 22nd: National suppliers Cathedral Stone Products, Lie Nielsen Toolworks and Plâtre Plaster will hold workshops throughout the day for professionals and enthusiasts in the Charleston area. Please call (843) 577-5245 for registration information.
Saturday, March 23rd: from 10am-5pm, with the Masters of the Building Arts Festival. Throughout the day there will be special demonstrations in the school’s six areas of study: timber framing, stone carving, masonry, ironwork, plaster, and carpentry. Regional artisans will exhibit their craft specializations including Hoffman Forge (iron), Ash Woodworking (millwork), Mike Lauer Studios (plaster), Arris Builders (timber framing) and Clint Button (stone). There will also be more than a dozen lectures led by regional and national experts including decorative artists Allen and Ina Brousseau Marx, stone builder Clay Chapman, developer Mark Regalbuto, woodcarver Mary May and the artisans from HGTV Dream Home on Kiawah.

Mary Scott Guest Lecture Series
All lectures are held at 5:30pm in the Nancy Hawk Lecture Hall on the 3rd Fl., 21 Magazine Street, Charleston, SC 29403. The lectures are Free and Open to the Public so be sure to bring a friend!

Sustainable Home Renovation workshop presented by the Sustainability Institute. Rising electric and gas prices, a housing market slump and more environmentally-conscious buyers, it is important that homes become more sustainable. Sustainable renovations cover six key components of sustainability: durability, energy & water conservation, indoor air quality, moisture control, organic & native species landscaping & sustainable living.
The Mary Scott Guest Lecture Series is funded in part by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs and the City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Program through their joint administration of the Lowcountry Quarterly Arts Program and the South Carolina Arts Commission which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of SC.

Open House Schedule
Prospective students are invited to attend one of our Open House events. Open House is from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Students
will have the opportunity to learn about each of
the College’s programs from College faculty. Current students, faculty, and staff will be available
to answer questions. During the Open House,
prospective students will tour the workshops and
classrooms at the College’s Old City Jail Campus
in historic downtown Charleston, and enjoy lunch
in the Jail courtyard. Advance reservations are required. Click for more details.
- 9:00 a.m. Continental Breakfast, James Island Campus
- 9:30 a.m. Welcome by Admissions & College and Overview by Dean Warren
- 9:40 a.m. Visit trade workshops and meet trade faculty
- 10:30 a.m. Break
- 10:45 a.m. Depart for Old City Jail
- 11:00 a.m. Tour of the Old City Jail Campus, trade workshops and academic classrooms.
- 12:00 p.m. Lunch
- 12:30 p.m. Student interviews as scheduled with Admissions Office *
